I would like to personally invite you to the UK première of the tour ready theatre piece ‘Amsterdam’, at Contact, Oxford Road, Manchester, M15 6JA , on Wednesday 10th April 2013 at 2pm or 7.30pm.
The strength of this piece is the uniqueness of its form, a dramatization of a collection of poetry. Amsterdam has been published as a collection of poetry by Crocus books and has been commissioned by Contact MCR to be dramatized into a stage production.
Directed by award winning director of both theatre and film Juliet Ellis http://www.julietellis.com/ , Choreographed by Darren Pritchard, internationally successful with show ‘Susan and Darren’ and recent Sky1 performer http://companyfierce.co.uk/, with sound design by vocal sculptor Jason Singh who, uses his breath, voice and a range of samplers and loop pedals, to vocally recreate sound and music compositions http://www.jasonsinghmusic.com/. Written and performed by poet, playwright and performance artist Chanje Kunda, http://chanjekunda.wordpress.com/,
This solo performance contains high drama, sexy poetry, delicious dance and incredible music. It is about a long distance relationship between an Amsterdam-based man and a Manchester-based woman. In this relationship questions arise. What attracts us? What does sex satisfy? Is it like our own conception? Does that validate our existence? Is absence an opportunity to fulfil ourselves?
The Collection of poetry is at £10, but purchase of the book on the night allows you free entry into the performance event of the year. Meaning you get a wonderful signed copy of this critically acclaimed collection, and it allows you to be part of the UK debut of this stunning piece of theatre.
