Eclipse Theatre Company is looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our team as General Manager.

We are looking for an experienced individual who will be central to the smooth delivery of eclipse theatres’ range of exciting projects and day to day business operation.

Over the next few years Eclipse Theatre Company will continue to deliver its ground breaking UK theatre tours as well as developing new work, growing our much sought after audience development programme and launching a brand new online TV channel.

Reporting to the Artistic Director the successful candidate will lead on administration, finance and communication for all the company’s projects from our office in Sheffield.

You must have a passion for new and challenging work and you will have a minimum of two years arts management experience.

Eclipse Theatre Company has just completed its most successful year to date reaching more audiences across several mediums and we are growing. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to grow with us.


Job Description

The General Manager will work with the Artistic Director/Producer  on the management and strategic planning of the organisation and will lead on the company’s administration, financial and communication needs.

The General Manager’s responsibilities include but are not limited to the areas detailed below.


To assist the Artistic Director/Producer in the strategic development of the company and delivery of the business plan.

To work closely with the Artistic Director/Producer to plan and manage the core annual tour as well as all eclipse theatre projects.

To attend Board  meetings and to prepare and circulate Board papers.

To manage Board communication.

To manage all reporting to statutory bodies such as Companies House and the Charity Commission.


To maintain and improve all company administration systems.

To manage the central point of contact for the organisation.

To provide Contracts for all permanent and temporary staff, venues and outside contractors or suppliers.

To maintain and update company Policies and action plans(e.g. H&S, equality, environmental,)


To work with Artistic Director/Producer to prepare annual budgets

To manage and report on company monthly cash-flow

To provide records for and oversee company Book keepers for monthly accounts.

To oversee delivery of Quarterly accounts for Board Meetings.

To manage the process for invoices, wages and salaries and their payment

To manage the process for the annual audit and ensure that a thorough and accurate audit trail is maintained at all times


To manage all external IT support.

To ensure the website is kept up to date

To ensure companies effective communication with audiences, partners etc via social media eg Twitter, Facebook etc.
