Manchester Jazz Festival (mjf) presents a vibrant and diverse 10-day programme of contemporary music each July at several indoor and outdoor city centre venues. The programme features new commissioned and cross-genre work, emerging bands, international debuts, other collaborations and a special focus on north west artists.
mjf is seeking to recruit maternity cover for the Festival Manager position from November 2013 to August 2013 (i.e. one complete festival edition), working for c 130 days. The job entails both office and event based work. The workload is seasonal, with a peak of activity in spring and summer and during the festival itself.
Purpose of the job
To work under the direction of the Artistic Director and in collaboration with the other members of the festival team to plan the festival and manage year-round operations, ensuring an efficient, high-quality standard of delivery; to work with the team to devise and implement robust operational strategies and ensure that they complement the vision of the organisation, as approved by the board.
In this part-time self-employed role, you will become part of a small, dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic team in a relaxed but hard-working environment.
The hours are flexible but it will be necessary to work some evenings, weekends and long days, especially during the festival itself.
Main duties include managing schedules, ticketing, artist liaison, contracts, budgeting, volunteers, board maintenance, staff meetings and reporting, with contributions to digital marketing, social media channels, fundraising and business planning.
Fee: £12,052 (£92 per day)
