The Faculty of Arts & Sciences is a diverse grouping of academic and professional traditions, but with a strong sense of identity and increasing opportunities for inter-disciplinary research and teaching. We are seeking to appoint a talented and inspiring academic leader to the position of Head of the Department of Performing Arts. This post offers the opportunity to shape the future course of the Department of Performing Arts. The department offers a distinctive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and is developing a dynamic research and enterprise culture.

This is a key senior management role carrying with it the responsibility for all aspects of strategic direction of the department and its future positioning and national contexts. You will be expected to lead the department through its next phase of development, building on its existing strengths while identifying opportunities for new high quality initiatives.

It is expected that you will have a strong research and teaching profile, a successful track record in academic leadership, and an ability to contribute to the strategic thinking of the Faculty. You must have the ability to integrate research and teaching, and with demonstrable experience of close collaborative working with other academics and professionals and experience of contributing to the further development of your discipline through professional networks.

You will have an established track record of high quality research output. You will be expected to make a major contribution to developing the department and take a leading role in domestic and international student recruitment. You will have excellent teaching and student support skills and a commitment to developing the curriculum.
