INSIDE OUT FESTIVAL: THE WAY I WEAR MY HAIR

/

WearMyHairI am a woman. I am black. I am a strong black woman… am I?  What does it mean to be a strong woman?

10 APR 2014, 9.30pm

Rachael Young
invites you to become lab partners and fellow researchers in her quest for an alternative female identity.  Rachael takes you on a satirical biography of her hair: natural to synthetic, straight to kinky and everywhere in between to discover her own identity and questioning the labels we give ourselves.

Rachael is writer and performer and Co-Artistic Director of First Floor Theatre. Rachael creates playful performance experimenting with words, physicality and space.

The Way I Wear My Hair is produced by The Future. Made with support from Curve, Derby Theatre, Serendipity Leicester, The Yard, Nottingham Playhouse and supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
