WHAT: Exploring a ‘sense of place’ is a concept frequently explored by artists and writers.
In a world where the concept of place has become as broad as it has narrow, this exhibition investigates how and why people have attachments to certain places and develop a feeling of ‘home’ and ‘being local’. Advancements in technology and the way in which we communicate, travel and live have greatly affected and distorted this area of thought over recent years, leading to a situation of nowhere being far.
This exhibition seeks to present a range of different interpretations and artistic practices which engage with these ideas.
They are seeking expressions of interest from visual Artists, in which their work explores the relationship person and place. Whilst they cannot show film based media, they welcome expressions of interest from sculptors and 3D artists.
