This is a free, family friendly event that’s part of Poppy, a new digital arts project exploring a contemporary, conceptual view of the First World War Centenary. You can book a place on eventbrite: bigpoppyplant.eventbrite.co.uk, or just join us on the day.
You’ll experience the beautiful, historic Ordsall Hall and gardens and meet the artists and people involved in this ambitious new project. You can also pick up a poppy planting kit to grow in your own community.
The beds of tweeting poppies will grow to form the beautiful setting to a poignant performance taking place on 3 August, the centenary eve of the start of the First World War.
Poppy is happening in libraries across Trafford, Stockport, Manchester and Salford with communities who are creating digital art for an art-piece app and website exhibiting films, photos, poetry, art, words, tweets, memories, stories, music and more…
We want to hear from you too. Find out how you can get involved on mypoppy.co.uk (launched 9 April) and @tweetingpoppy
Poppy is a partnership project, led by Trafford Council, between Trafford, Stockport, Manchester, Salford Library Services, Imperial War Museum North, Ordsall Hall Salford, and creative producers Lets Go Global Arts and Media CIC.
