Maya Chowdhry

I am a Transmedia writer and inTer-aCtive artist, making interactive theatre and site-specific installation primarily focussing on immersive work. My recent work involves site-specific Installation, exploring the juxtaposition and conflicts of new technologies with the ‘natural world’, utilising film, text, animation, photography, augmented reality and the Web.

maya chowdhryI am interested in the application of social permaculture in my practice to interrogate the areas of food sovereignty, world water scarcity and climate justice. My work has been produced and exhibited in public gardens, city streets, theatres, galleries and on television.

I have received an Arts Council Grants for the Arts Award for ‘Peas on  Earth’ – a research and development project investigating the use of Augmented Reality to produce an immersive live experience. More info

This self-guided StoryTrail runs for the duration of the Manchester Literature Festival, 6-19th October 2014. Different story episodes are revealed on GPS geocaches, Zapcodes, a micro-projection and micro-print publication. Through each strand are three characters whose lives have been, and will be, altered forever by their attachment to the city and its waterways. Past collides with present, digital with print, to create an immersive and thrilling adventure. Project website
