A powerful spoken word piece by Manchester Royal Exchange actor and director, Wyllie Longmore. Two men try to understand each other’s lives 200 years apart. Longmore confronts Ira Aldridge, the black American tragedian and one of the great nineteenth-century interpreters of Shakespeare. Known for his performances of Macbeth, King Lear and Othello, Aldridge was written out of history and largely forgotten. This performance makes for a stimulating and thought-provoking evening.
