The successful candidate must demonstrate extensive experience in arts and cultural sector fundraising. Candidate will also need to provide demonstrable success in arts and cultural fundraising including funding from Trusts and Foundations.
They must have excellent interpersonal skills and understand the importance of key relations. He/she must have a good instinct for business and be able to negotiate the optimal deal for STAY before finalising agreements and partnerships.
As an ambassador for STAY’s mission and vision, the ideal candidate must have excellent reporting skills, be able to network on behalf of STAY as well as stand-in on behalf of the Executive Director when necessary, attend meetings and networking events which may fall outside normal working hours and must be prepared to travel.
STAY (Sustained Theatre Artists Yorkshire) is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), and was formally constituted in 2013, although it was originally set up in 2007 as a result of the Arts Council England’s initiative to promote equality of opportunities for performing artists across the creative sector.
STAY is part of the national body of Sustained Theatre with 9 regional hubs across England, each with its own constitution.
STAY is supported by key organisations in the region e.g. CidaCo, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Sheffield Theatres, Yorkshire Dance, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Theatre In Mill, Hull Truck, Freedom Festival Hull, Artlink Hull, and Balbir Singh Dance Company, to name but a few, and including most Local Authority Arts Development Officers in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
STAY is developing an excellent track record of delivering projects such as the STAY-CidaCo Creative Enterprise programme attracting over 20 emerging BAME artists in Yorkshire for each iteration; and including the STAY Executive Director delivering over 160 hours mentoring with BAME artist in the region.
STAY has also been a key player in the Creative Case North programme funded by ACE.
STAY’s mission is to enable BAME artists to make work, make money from their work and develop audiences for their work – by collaborations with the mainstream arts sector to enrich the cultural offer for all.
