Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr’s speech ‘I have a dream’, DREAM NATION invites 600 people from all walks of life to write haikus inspired by Dr King’s vision for change. These will be displayed on a specially commissioned, travelling installation.

At the Café, they will also be presenting Tangle Company, their new ensemble of artists drawn from the best of England’s African-Caribbean theatre talent. Tangle Company will be performing two specially commissioned, brand new musical and poetic works by African and Caribbean writers: Patricia Cumper MBE, Inua Ellams, Rex Obano, Chino Odimba, Louisa Adjoa Parker, Christopher Rodriguez, Sabo Sabo, Paula B Stanic and Andrew Whaley – in response to Dr King’s speech.

Tangle is an African Caribbean theatre company. They find new creative ways for people to adjust their perceptions of contemporary British identity. Their projects help build confidence in, and enthusiasm for multi-racial theatre across South West England. More info at www.tangleinternational.com

TangleFamily Cafe and DREAM NATION are both produced by Tangle, and takes place at Guest Projects (www.guestprojects.com)
by personal invitation of Yinka Shonibare, MBE (RA).

DREAM NATION will tour South West England during 2014, in collaboration with South West England’s Partnership for Multi Racial Theatre, a consortium of arts organisations, founded by Tangle in 2013.
