Origami PenguinDeadline: Tuesday 31 December 2013 Paid (£20k-25k) Full time

Contact: Luke Breen luke@origamipenguin.com

Origami Penguin has a Full Time position available for a confident and experienced Web Developer to join our growing creative design studio team.

At Origami Penguin they currently offer bespoke WordPress theme development including e-commerce sites. They hope to continue to offer this service for small to medium-sized businesses, but they are ready to expand their skill set to include more advanced systems for larger companies. Knowledge of the Magento Content Management System (CMS) is desirable, and all other CMS systems are beneficial.

The Applicant will have the sole responsibility to manage all aspects of web development for the company. A confident individual who has a broad skill set and drive to help the business grow is required to ensure this position becomes a permanent requirement for the company in the future. It is for this reason that position will be subject to a 3 month trial period, during which the applicant will be expected to fulfill all the requirements outlined here and begin to offer their extended skill set to our clients.

Initially the role will include setting up and managing a VPS or Dedicated Hosting service for their new and existing clients. The role will include tailoring hosting packages and providing support & maintenance, email support and email marketing campaign support. Once a hosting package is established the applicant will be required to transfer existing websites to the new server, so confidence when creating backups of site files and databases is essential. Experience with SSH remote terminal access for server maintenance is also desirable.

Once a Hosting Packing is set up the next stage will be to assist creating Development and Testing Environments using Subversion (SVN), so experience with SVN is desirable.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) skills are also desirable for their existing clients and their company. Experience in reviewing existing websites would be beneficial, as well as planning SEO campaigns and Social Media strategies for new websites.
